Postural Control in Older Adults During and Following a 12-Week Balance Training Intervention With Attentional Focus Instructions

چکیده

Adults ( N = 54, 80.78 ± 6.08 years) who reported falling during the previous 12 months participated in a 12-week wobble board training program with internal focus or external (EF) instructions. Verbal manipulation checks were performed after sessions as self-report of attentional foci used. The percentage which participants using an EF (EF SR ) was subsequently calculated. Mean velocity and mean power frequency anterior–posterior (MVELO AP MPF medial–lateral ML direction assessed 35-s task at Weeks 0, 6, 12, 13, 16, 20, latter three retention tests. Piecewise linear growth models estimated treatment effects on individual trajectories MVELO intervention periods. Regardless condition, significantly decreased (π −.0019, p .005) increased .025, < .02) period. In analyses including interaction terms, group greater had superior progression .0013, .025). suggest preference for advantage facilitating postural control performance automaticity.

Falls and postural control in older adults with cataracts

Background: There is increasing evidence that visual impairment contribute to falling. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of vision impairment of old adult patients with cataract on the occurrence of falls and postural control. Methods:According to the results of screening ophthalmic examination, 48 cataract patients (mean±SD aged 68.5 ± 6.08 yrs.) and 50 individuals withou...

Training attentional control in older adults.

Recent research has demonstrated benefits for older adults from training attentional control using a variable priority strategy, but the construct validity of the training task and the degree to which benefits of training transfer to other contexts are unclear. The goal of this study was to characterize baseline performance on the training task in a sample of 105 healthy older adults and to tes...

age and attentional focus related differences in postural control

postural control has an important role in daily activities and motor independence. in recent years, conscious aspects of postural control such as attention and cognitive processes have received attention for balance optimization performance. therefore, the present study designed to examine the age–related differences in postural control in the internal and external focus of attention. for this ...

Objective: The aim of this study was survey effect of distal and proximal external attentional focus instruction on postural sways and muscular electrical activity amongst children with mental retardation. Method: For this purpose, 30 child 10- 12 years old (M= 11.2) was selected from exceptional children schools and divided to three 10 persons groups (distal external attentional focus, proxima...
